The Hangover

Beer: Billy Goat Lager
Brewer: Billy Goat Tavern, Chicago, Ill. (But almost certainly brewed off-site by a third party.)
Notes: A terrible beer. This light lager is one of two on tap at the historic Billy Goat Tavern on Lower Wacker in downtown Chicago, the other being Billy Goat Dark. This one really tasted like the batch went bad, as it was the worst kind of skunky and was very obviously made with the cheapest kind of adjuncts available. Ultra-cheap lagers can go one of two ways: Hamm’s Premium, which I gave high marks because it was about as good as a 50-cent can of beer should be; or Genny Light, which was so bad I couldn’t finish it. And though this Billy Goat Lager was $3, I’m counting this in the ultra-cheap-but-terrible category because it’s almost certainly just a re-labeled version of a cheap-ass beer. — Ryan Denham via Year In Beer
